Sometimes love is just something you see.

That’s the magic of elopements. It’s just two people inside their own love poem. They aren’t pressured by timelines, deadlines, decor or seating arrangements. Just two people who need say nothing to show each other they want forever together. Oh wait, and their filmmaker. You need to film your elopement.

The song by Alison Kraus is what comes to mind for me.

You say it best when you say nothing at all.

Enter Grant Station. I said “Yes of COURSE” when my friend Marie asked me to participate with a group of her “dream-team” wedding vendors to create an elopement-inspired styled shoot. The deep moody light and vintage textures of the venue itself had my heart in a flutter.

As we moved through the shoot, the vision of the film started to materialize in sultry lines like a poem. I needed this piece to be different.

My reflections…

Try to visualize the most romantic scene in a movie. What does that looks like to you? For me, it’s all of the senses coming together to paint an experience of love not totally obvious by sound or sight alone. As you begin this film, take notice of what you notice. What do the sounds and sights make you feel? What about the things you see? Can you smell the flowers in the bride’s bouquet?

The silence between the couple is one of the most powerful pieces of the whole. The say nothing, yet so much is exchanged between them. Think of how amazing a wedding day would feel if it were just the two of you. Just you, your love, and the things that make you feel alive. This is why I love elopements. Especially once that put the couple in their happy place.

Go with that.

Thanks to the DREAM TEAM for putting this work of art together for me to film!
